Easy and Cheap Christmas Decorations
By Kenny Leones

Decorating the house during the Christmas season can be difficult for some due to the costs of these items. However, it is easy enough to whip up some homemade Christmas decorations.

Make Popcorn Decors

Create some popcorn and let it cool. Slice a piece of fishing line a yard long. Fasten a big knot at one of the ends. Thread the needle on the opposite end with the fishing line.

Pierce the needle through the popcorn's center. Slide the popcorn to the line's end. Fill the line with popcorn. Tie the end and set it on the Christmas tree.

Snowflakes

Get a piece of white paper and fold it until you get ¼ sheet size. Slice various shapes from the paper (squares, rectangles, hexagons etc). Fold the paper and make a few more cuts.

When you open the paper you will have a snowflake. Make as many as you want and place them on the mantle. You can also use colored paper.

Create a Snowman from Paper Plates

Turn the paper plate over so the bottom side is up. Make the eyes, mouth, and nose using various colored papers. Glue these on the plate. Make as many snowmen as you want for the other paper plates.

Glass Ornaments

Buy some cheap glass ball decors. Get a picture you like. Draw lines around the picture similar to the ball's height and width. Cut the picture. Roll the picture sides. Take off the top of the glass ornament. Put the picture inside. Use tweezers to unroll it properly.

Cheap Christmas Decorations

Search the Internet for some used decors. You can find a lot of these in auction sites. You can also find some in garage sales. Just make sure you inspect the items before buying it.

Also make it a point to check the local shops around you. They often offer discounts on various Christmas decorations. You can also go to dollar stores. You will not find any of the larger decors, but there are plenty of cute, smaller items there.

Another way to save money is to shop at the end of the holidays. The prices will be off by 80% or so.

Cheap Stocking Stuffers

If you are giving gifts for handymen, visit a home improvement store. You can get a plastic template for hole drilling or carpenter pencils. Other practical gifts you can give are cards, toothbrushes, drawing pens or crayons, or stamps.

You can also buy some seed packets, nail polish bottles or coloring books. Other items you can buy are scented candles, pens or batteries. If the recipient likes to travel, get a zip loc. You can also get some toiletries or a luggage tag.

Make sure the item is suitable for the recipient. If you buy perfume, it should be their favorite scent. The same goes for the scented candles.

Whether you prefer to buy cheap Christmas decorations or make them, one thing is for sure; you do not need to splurge to enjoy and experience the holiday spirit.
